Records Sneak Peek

Today we are proud to show you the latest Records Sneak Peek after a long time of coding (and testing). Records is approaching to be code complete in the next few weeks, at this time we are working to improve the search area and localizing all the resources.

User Interface: The Inspector Round 2

Last time we have introduced the first details about the application's inspector displaying some pics of it.

Today we are ready to show more details of the inspector because more items are now ready and merged into the application. We are at work on other inspectors and we are confidents to close the task in a few days or so.

How beautiful is the new OS X 10.10 Yosemite introduced by Apple at the WWDC 14? We are thrilled about it and we can't wait to start working on a version of Records for Yosemite as soon as possible.

User Interface: The Inspector

Today I'm ready to show more details about another important element in Records, the inspector.

The inspector is one of the most important elements in the application that allow the user to configure all the editable items, in our case are called components. The basic workflow to customize a database in Records is to drag&drop one or more components inside the designer area and configure it like your needs.

When the user selects one or more components from the designer area, the inspector take care of collect and display all the editable properties like in this preview.

You know, Records is still in development and at this time the most important inspector items are ready and completely integrated into the application, I'm confident to integrate all the remaining inspector items in a few days.

Embracing the new iWork design

With the new iWork '13, Apple tried to trace a connecting line between iOS 7 and OS X. Even if we still live in a world of dualisms, in which coexist both Mavericks, with its gray gradients and shadows, and iOS 7, with its "all flat" style, Pages, Numbers and Keynote are trying to bridge the differences in a new, hybrid, way.

The biggest changes all dwell in toolbars and inspectors. All the toolbar buttons now have a "flat appearance" with a minimalistic style and no redundant borders or gray shadows. The inspector is now fixed and with flat tabs, pretty different from its previous, floating, version.

With Records we have decided to make some design changes in order to "embrace this new design". As you can see in the screenshot below, Records tabs now share the same iWork style and toolbar buttons will follow the same design guidelines.

The past week Records has received the new designer where the user can add and arrange objects. We are currently at work to update the inspector based on the new designer and the new iWorks '13 appearance. We are planning to show more details of the UI in the next few weeks.
